What was an encouraging moment where you saw God at work while on the missions field?
Probably one of the most encouraging moments that we had was when we were teaching when Jesus came on the scene for the first time, and He was seen as the answer to Genesis chapter 3, that He was going to undo what Adam had done. Our guys were looking for that One who would reunite us with God again, who would reunite everyone with God.
And I remember teaching the story of the paralytic. And we acted it out, and the paralytic—we had this version of a mat, and it comes down, and one of my co-workers is on the mat, and we're talking about how Jesus says, "So that you know I can heal what's on the inside, I'm going to heal what's on the outside." And one of the Yebies stands up and he's just like, "I get it! This is the guy! This is the guy." And we weren't sure what to do, because we hadn't gotten to the death, burial, and resurrection. And he was just excited about it because he was seeing this happen before his eyes.
It was a watershed moment, because people were wondering why he was so excited. It was almost like we had to stop the teaching so he could explain to everybody, "Somehow this guy is going to take away sin, because He's saying He can do things on the inside that no man can do."
