How Can Churches Disciple Highly Transient Congregations?

How can churches disciple highly transient congregations?

Increasingly in a globalized world, transience is a problem in churches. So in Dubai we assume maybe we have a new member for two to four years. Some of them stay longer, but many do not. And so we think of it as — we want to stuff their backpack with as much sound doctrine and good Christian living counsel as possible. So over a course of a small period of time, we try to be proactive about building a culture of discipling and recognizing that we need to invest in people intentionally.

We often urge people coming into town that they need to plug in immediately. And it's amazing how some people have come and been with us six months, twelve months, eighteen months, and yet have had incredibly fruitful ministries among us. And the reason is because they just immediately plugged into life-on-life relationships in the body.
