What is Tent Making?

What does tent making mean?

Tent making is what we saw the Apostle Paul and Barnabas do when they go to locations and they work for a living, so they don't gain their living off the people they're trying to reach. And then they are there doing the business they do, not as their mission, but for the end of being in that location and paying their bills so that they can proclaim the gospel.

Paul would do that actually in public and from house to house. So he got up early and would work a job, and then he would go out in the afternoon and proclaim the gospel publicly and go from house to house late into the evening.

But tent making is not, in and of itself, the mission. It's just a way to potentially fund the mission or get someone into a location so that they can accomplish the mission, which is to proclaim Christ to those who have not heard and to plant churches among those who receive the gospel.
